Unfortunately consumers are being sold DIY systems like ring , skybell , just to name a few and are not being told that these systems have very large gaps in securing your home or business. Don’t misunderstand me, they are great add on’s to a professionally installed security camera system but that’s all they are add on’s. You should not put these devices in place of a hard wired system that is always recording with or without internet.
Unfortunately if your internet happened to be down during the incident or your motion setting were set to low the video would not capture. We recommend that you adjust your motion settings and test them at night as well as in the day. Ring has multiple motion zone settings that will allow you to do this. Also consider adding a camera that is wired to a local recorder as well as cloud backup. This will record incidents even if your internet happened to be down. Internet service providers tend to do updates and services on their networks during the same times that are more prevalent for criminal activity because of the slow internet traffic at those times. The provider assumes that they will affect less of their clients during these times. Go to a local licensed professional and look at the options that you may have. Don’t expect your internet provider to secure you , your belongings or your family. It’s not their job. They just provide you internet.
